They say that a picture speaks a thousand words, but a cartoon speaks much more than that. In a cartoon is written an entire 4-column editorial in a few random lines. Over the years, numerous magazines have come out with hundreds of articles spread across their pages. But in this era of memes and fast-forward whatsapp messages, a magazine on cartoons was more than a necessity. Teekhi Mirch is just that.
India’s first bilingual cartoon magazine, Teekhi Mirch, compiles cartoons from some of the most intelligent men of India, whom we call cartoonists. Right from Mir Suhail of Kashmir to Satish Acharya of Karnataka, we cover the length of breadth of India through cartoons on various topics that dominate Indian news and society. The magazine publishes every month with special focus on the events went by. Almost 80% of the magazine is ruled by cartoons, but you will also find 20% written word here and there.
Arti Jain is the editor of the magazine. India’s famous cartoonist Irfan Khan is the chief cartoonist on the magazine’s panel. Other big names include EP Unny, Rajendra Dhodapkar, Surendra and many more.
We proudly claim that we record history through cartoons even as it is being made, and publish it every month.
